Leave Your Ego at The Door 
There is no winning or losing in training. Don’t let your emotions take control. Stay relaxed and try to focus on technique only. Trying to ‘win’ and using too much strength in order to ‘win’ only increases the chance of injury. Save going 100% for competition and real world self defence. 

Respect Your Training Partners and Your Coach
Be aware that many Jiu-jitsu techniques are can cause significant injury or death if not practised responsibly. Pay attention during training and listen to your instructors. Always be aware of your training partners abilities and limitations. 

Bullying Will Not Be Tolerated
Any bullying or intimidation of other team members or coaches with result in immediate expulsion.

Pay Your Fees On Time

Tap Early
Tapping early will save yourself and your training partners from injury and will help you to learn more efficiently.

Keep Yourself and Your Training Gear Clean
Do not turn up to training with smelly unwashed training gear. Not only is this disrespectful to your training partners, it is unhygienic and can lead to infection. Wash your training gear after each training session. 

Keep Your Nails and Toenails Short
Long nails can cause injury to both yourself and your partner, please keep nails cut short.

No Jewellery While Training
This includes piercings, necklaces, rings, wrist bands, watches and wearable tech.  

Do Not Train When You are Sick
If you are sick or feel like you may be coming down with something, please do NOT turn up to training. All it takes is one person to infect all other members of the team. Likewise, please avoid training if you have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID. If you are unsure, please test yourself before arriving at the training.

No Shoes On The Mats
Bare feet or anti-microbial training socks only. 

Always Wear a Rashguard At Training
Protect yourself from friction burns and keep sweat off your training partners. Don’t be gross,  wear a rashguard!

No Sparring Without a Gumshield EVER
No gumshield = no sparring. Always protect your teeth, tongue and brain by wearing a gumshield that is suitable for combat sports.

Dealing With Blood
Any accidental scratches or cuts must be dealt with immediately using bandages and antiseptic found in the club First Aid Station. Any trace of blood on the mats must be removed and sprayed with the appropriate cleaning product. 

Be a Good Ambassador of the Sport and This Academy
As a member of this academy, you are not just an ambassador of the sport but a representative of this Academy. Always Conduct Yourself Respectfully. Avoid using Jiu-jitsu outside of training except under extreme circumstances for Self Defence only. Aggressive behaviour, bullying and starting fights will not be tolerated and will result in expulsion.

If you feel lost, talk to one of the coaches or more senior grades. Everyone starts out the same, enjoy the journey and above all have fun!
